I am thrilled to say the response to our new look TIPS website has been amazing and you have been queuing up to become members and parent testers! I have personally interviewed each new tester and the latest TIPS test on baby skincare products is well underway (look out for the results later in the autumn).
The results of the breast pads/treatments tests are now online (more about these later in this newsletter).
I also have six pregnant parent testers testing four brands of TENS machine so look out for these results online.
I continue to be surprised and delighted with the numbers of new testers who are signing up (we now have almost 100 on the database!) alongside many new members.
Your feedback on problems faced during breastfeeding continues to highlight the help that parents need during those early weeks. I can already tell you that almost half of the FAQs I answer as a breastfeeding consultant are a direct result of conflicting advice. This is why I have decided to add new FAQs on skincare and related topics to the breastfeeding FAQs already online at www.tipslimited.com. As a wee treat for your little ones, we will also be adding some animated TIPS ducks to the members’ area so they can also feel part of the TIPS community. If you have any other suggestions for what you would like included then feel free to email us.

This is Nicole just after a breast feed and I think you will agree that she looks like the cat that got the cream! Thank you to Mum, who is one of my parent testers, for sending this in. A signed copy of ‘Breastfeeding: the essential guide’ was sent to Mum Andrea who donated it to Tarynn. |

I first came across this range back in 2005 when it was featured in the Channel 4 programme ‘Make me a million’, which it went on to win. I agreed to be their advisor if they were willing to advise parents to use just plain water for the first month of life (refreshingly different at the time). This was not the only difference. Halos n Horns products are not only free from sulphates (SLS & SLES) which can irritate delicate skin, but they are also reasonably priced and smell gorgeous. No wonder they sold by the crateful and have recently been the subject of a take-over by new owners Ceuta Healthcare. I have been invited to continue as Baby Skincare Advisor and you can read my TOP TIPS on the Halos n Horns website alongside regular FAQs on baby skincare issues. I am delighted to have included the full Halos n Horns range in my baby skincare testing which is out to testers as we speak. Good luck to Halos n Horns and to the 47 other wonderful products that I have chosen to test. I look forward to collating the 248 score sheets later in the summer.

Megan is based in South Africa where skin-to-skin contact is widely practiced. Babysense now have three websites: one for South Africa, one for the USA and one for the UK.

I did manage to squeeze in a short holiday with my family and we jetted off to New York for an exciting week. As well as all the usual site seeing, I met up with my new friend, a student midwife from Brooklyn, NY, who runs an excellent website: www.studentmidwife.org. She has put me in touch with her Postpartum Manager at the Lenox Hill Hospital, NY where I was able to drop off supplies of my Babycare - back to basics™ leaflet and associated articles. I am hoping that the message about safe skincare will soon spread and I am delighted to report that I have just had my first parent tester sign up from the USA. |
