21 June 2008 - NCT Annual Conference and Exhibition
I would like to thank Weleda for kindly inviting me to join them on their stand at the Stoneleigh Park Conference Centre in Coventry for the NCT Annual Conference and Exhibition. Courtesy of Weleda, I will be giving away 60 signed copies of my book Breastfeeding: the essential guide. Come along to the Weleda stand early to avoid disappointment, because once the free copies are gone, they are gone! We will also have copies of the version of my Baby care back to basics™ leaflet. This contains the most up to date information on baby skincare and cordcare, skin-to-skin, feeding and reducing the risk of cot death.

13 - 14 June 2008 - BabyGROE networking conference and Natural Choice Awards ceremony
I am honoured to be attending the BabyGROE networking conference and Natural Choice Awards ceremony taking place at Trafford Hall Chester. I am thrilled to have been shortlisted in two categories (ethical business and health professional – midwife) and look forward to meeting the judges: Prime Minister’s wife Sarah Brown, Brigit Strawbridge (of BBC2 ‘It’s not easy being green’ fame) and of course my good friend Janey Lee Grace.

I look forward to meeting midwives from all over the world at what promises to be the event of the year for midwives.
I will be joining my good friends from Bickiepegs on stand number 49 to give advice and information about breastfeeding and especially cup feeding. You will have a chance to check out their TIPS award winning Doidy cup and read my article on cup feeding which features this innovative design. If you are one of the lucky delegates there will also be 60 free copies of my book, Breastfeeding: the essential guide up for grabs to those who turn up early! I will also have stocks of my brand new Babycare-Back to basics™ leaflets (version 5) with the latest advice on baby skincare.
My brand new article on cord blood banking is featured as the Hot Topic in the June 08 Midirs Digest. This updates midwives on the issues surrounding cord blood collection and its associated moral and ethical dilemmas. Please get your copy of this excellent journal, hot off the press, from the Midirs staff on stand number 54.
Next door to Midirs is the Elsevier Stand (56) where the textbook ‘Examination of the newborn and neonatal health – a multidimentional approach’ (co-edited by Lorna Davies and Sharon McDonald) will be previewed. I am delighted to have been asked to contribute to this book by writing the chapter: Neonatal skincare and cord care : implications for practice (13).

25 - 27 April 2008 - Glasgow Baby Show
I am delighted to be joining Colin and Janet Cordner on the Jackson Reece Baby Wipes stand where they will be introducing their brand new bio-degradable, eco-friendly, carbon conscious wipes (out to TIPS testers as we speak). This product has been developed over the past year to replace the original wipes which won the TIPS Best of the best award in 2007. I will be on hand to give new parents the most up-to-date baby skincare advice and will also be handing out copies of my Babycare- back to basics™ leaflet, so feel free to come along and say hello. 16 Februrary 2008 - NCT Scottish regional roadshow event
I was delighted to be invited to speak at this local event to raise awareness of the excellent work carried out by the NCT organisation, with a view to setting up a new branch in the West of Scotland. As well as my discussion on breastfeeding and baby skincare there were also presentations on Pilates, Hillhouse Care (a local charity for young mothers), local maternity services, chiropractic care, sing and sign and an update on NCT services and sales. 11-12 October2007 - UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative Conference – Waterfront Hall, Belfast
I was delighted to be joining up with Tony and Hazel Cowan from Bickiepegs to provide delegates with advice on cup feeding (especially using Bickiepegs' innovative Doidy cup) as an aid to the establishment of breastfeeding in the early weeks and its role during weaning. I gave out 60 free signed copies of my book Breastfeeding: the essential guide.

25 September - Nursing in Practice Event – London Event
I was honoured to be presenting my work on baby skincare to other primary healthcare professionals at the London NIP Event.
In addition to their magazine and website Nursing in Practice delivers a series of Events. These are the largest series of free conferences and exhibitions dedicated to primary care nurses across the UK. These in depth educational conferences address all the current clinical and policy issues affecting the primary care community. Nursing in Practice Events have been running since 2003 and all our previous events have received approval from the RCN Accreditation Unit. I was pleased to be re-joining my friends at MIDIRS to present my work on cup feeding as part of their webinar programme. We highlighedt this misunderstood subject and generated discussion. My visit in February, where I presented my work on baby skincare, was a great success (follow this link to download the presentation). I believe webinars are an innovative way of teaching online that will hopefully become commonplace, saving professionals time and money attending conventional seminars. 27 – 28 April 2007
Sharon enjoyed a wonderful weekend at the Glasgow Baby Show. She was giving parents expert advice on baby skincare issues on the Jackson Reece Stand (TIPS Best of the Best baby wipe’). She was also handing out copies of her Babycare – back to basics™ leaflet which is full of tips on how best to care for your baby’s skin. Thank you to all the parents who have since joined TIPS as parent testers – word is spreading!

sharon gave advice on breastfeeding and baby skincare issues at the NCT Open Forum. This was held in Troon at the C-Gulls Café. The event was a great success with lots of information available and lots of opportunities for Mums to chat and exchange information. Free copies of the Babycare – back to basics™ leaflet were handed out on the day while signed copies of Sharon's book Breastfeeding – the essential guide could be purchased. I was delighted to join the Baby Gurus Team for their first luxury weekend at the prestigious Scottish Gleneagles Hotel, where I presented the breastfeeding workshop and baby skincare session for new parents-to-be as they enjoyed their antenatal education in a relaxed atmosphere within this beautiful setting.

21 – 22 October 2006
At the Earls Court Baby Show, Sharon was one of the healthcare professionals on the Persil Non-Bio and Comfort Pure stand. While there she handed out free Babycare - back to basics™ leaflets and gave tips on baby skincare and related baby care advice.

18 – 19 Octber 2006
At the CPHVA conference in Harrogate Sharon provided expert advice on baby skincare issues on the 'Halos'N'Horns' stand.

Breastfeeding Congress, Basel in Switzerland
Sharon attended the presentation of the latest research on breast anatomy and human lactation by Professor Peter Hartmann and his team from The University of Western Australia. Sharon’s memories of this weekend were published in The Practicing Midwife Journal (November 2006 issue).

'Big into Baby', Belfast. Sharon met up with many wonderful people and provided useful advice on breastfeeding and baby skincare. 70,000 copies of the updated TIPS leaflet, 'Babycare: back to basics' were given out at various events during 2006. This was very exciting and hopefully spread the word about safe skincare for newborns and beyond.

Official launch of Breastfeeding: the essential guide at Kidzplay, Prestwick, Scotland. The event started at 1pm and my guest of honour was Dame Lorna Muirhead. Sharon’s latest article 'Breastfeeding: the essential guide. Just another breastfeeding book?' was published in the December 2004 issue of Midirs Midwifery Digest. Also featured was the first professional review by Irene Ridgers, lactation consultant with www.lcgb.org.

5 August 2004
An Article by Joan McFadden was published in the Glasgow Herald. This highlighted Sharon’s work on neonatal skincare.

March 2004
An article by Judith Eagle in the 'Junior' Magazine was published. The article, 'Baby Grooming' (page 51) quoted Sharon’s work and website to new mothers and introduced the concept of 'water only' for baby skincare in the early weeks.
